LifePod. Heart.

Cardiovascular diseases are globally the main cause of death. By addressing behavioral risk factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity and hypertension can the risk for most cardiovascular diseases be reduced or prevented.
LifePod actively supports patients with cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention through a tailored support application. LifePod increases patient’s engagement and knowledge about the individual health condition. Patients take more responsibility for their lifestyle choices and have better control over their blood pressure.

LifePod. Clinical trial.
LifePod is tested and validated in a multicenter, randomized clinical trial with 150 participating patients at three cardiac rehab centers in Sweden. The study compared two groups of patients who suffered a myocardial infarction regarding improvement of risk factor management and therapy adherence. One group received the traditional care program after myocardial infarction, the other group got beside the traditional treatment access to the eHealth support application LifePod. The patients in the app-group got an individual profile with recommendations for healthy diet, physical activity, blood pressure, reporting self-rated, general health conditions and many more. Patients could communicate with the heart center and get medical support and advice from a nurse.
LifePod. Decision support.
The patient’s data presents in an automatically generated dashboard which includes an overview over all patient’s medical priority. The healthcare professionals know by accessing the dashboard at any time how their patients are doing. This lets them focus on those with the greatest needs. The prioritized overview of the patient’s medical condition allows the care giver to monitor and handle a greater number of patients than with traditional doctor-patient meetings.
LifePod. Better blood pressure control.
The intervention group achieved a significantly larger reduction in blood pressure compared to patients receiving usual care only. They also were more often abstinent from smoking compared to patients receiving usual care.
Studies show that a reduction by 10 mmHg in blood pressure means a 20% lower risk for suffering a cardiovascular event like infarction or stroke.
Pre-results of the study were published at the Swedish cardiology congress “Kardiovaskulära Vårmöte” in Gothenburg during spring 2019.
Increased secureness.
When a doctor or nurse view a patient’s data, a notification sends to the patient. Patients know that their data is visible for the clinic and someone watches their profile and reacts if needed. This makes patients feel more secure and safe. Using the eHealth-application LifePod makes patients more aware about their personal condition and how different risk factors influence them. They develop a greater understanding and knowledge for their health and improve risk factor management and therapy adherence.
CE-approved medical device.
LifePod is a CE-approved medical device where you can combine different health conditions in one interface. It delivers individual care for chronic and multi-chronic patients. The LifePod-platform is scalable and adaptable to various health conditions e.g. diabetes, COPD, CVD as congestive heart failure and myocardial infarction
